Evaluation of Coating Thickness Using Lift-Off Insensitivity of Eddy Current Sensor

چکیده
Defect detection in ferromagnetic substrates is often hampered by nonmagnetic coating thickness variation when using conventional eddy current testing technique. The lift-off distance between the sample and sensor one of main obstacles for measurement coatings on Based thin-skin effect insensitive inductance (LII), a simplified iterative algorithm proposed reducing multifrequency sensor. Compared to previous techniques compensating error (e.g., point intersection) while retrieving thickness, algorithms avoid computation burden integration, which are used as embedded online retrieval lift-offs via each frequency channel. LII determined dimension geometry sensor, thus eliminating need empirical calibration. method validated means experimental measurements with different materials thicknesses ferrous (dual-phase alloy). calculated has been controlled within 3% an extended range up 10 mm.

Lift-off effect in high-frequency eddy current conductivity spectroscopy
Precision eddy current measurements have been shown to be capable of characterizing the near-surface residual stress and cold work profiles in surface-treated components. To capture the peak compressive residual stress in moderately shot-peened (Almen 4–8A) nickel-base superalloys, the eddy current inspection frequency has to be as high as 50–80MHz. Unfortunately, spurious selfand straycapacita...

Evaluation of Heterogeneity of Paint Coating on Metal Substrate Using Laser Infrared Thermography and Eddy Current
Abstract—Non contact evaluation of the thickness of paint coatings can be attempted by different destructive and nondestructive methods such as cross-section microscopy, gravimetric mass measurement, magnetic gauges, Eddy current, ultrasound or terahertz. Infrared thermography is a nondestructive and non-invasive method that can be envisaged as a useful tool to measure the surface thickness var...
متن کاملEvaluation of Selective Phase Corrosion Thickness on Nickel Aluminum Bronze Valves using Transient Eddy Current
Nickel Aluminum Bronze (NAB) is a material with marine environment applications. Under certain conditions the material can undergo selective phase corrosion (SPC), which involves the removal of particular elements resulting in a loss of material strength. Additional changes in material properties include a change in conductivity and permeability in comparison with the parent material. Transient...
